The ANNA Foundation History

The ANNA Foundation was named in honor of Anna Quinlivan, the daughter of Mike’s former Georgetown teammate and roommate Mark Quinlivan.

Anna was a caring and empathetic soul who spread joy and positivity wherever she went. She was a connoisseur of Broadway musicals and loved attending shows and collecting playbills, and found her home away from home working backstage and running the spotlight for theater productions at both her high school, where she won a theater festival lighting award, as well as for the Hingham Civic Music Theater. She also was a talented photographer, played volleyball and threw javelin for the track team, and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Anna passed away on July 31, 2020, from cardiac arrest following a run, just three weeks after her 16th birthday. Through organ donation, she saved or improved many lives. A scholarship in her name also was launched by the Hingham Civic Music Theater (http://www.hcmt.org/) to honor Hingham high school students who have worked as backstage tech crew or in theater tech.

Although her life was short, Anna left a very big and wonderful legacy.

What We Do?

Our Mission Is To Help Underprivileged Youth Athletes

The ANNA Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization supporting underprivileged athletes across the country. With contributions of equipment, coaching, travel, and expenses, ANNA (Athletes Never Need Again) is a passion project that will support thousands of young athletes with opportunities they otherwise would not have available to them. Sports is one of the greatest gateways to building confidence, pride and longevity. The ANNA Foundation helps to open that gateway.

What We Do?

We Level The Playing Field

At The ANNA Foundation we believe all children should have access to the most basic necessities for pursuing athletics...shoes, equipment, coaching, entrance fees, etc. The cost of a pair of sneakers alone for a growing person can deplete a budget for a week, a month or more. We believe that cost should not keep children from participating in athletics and pursuing their dreams.

Whether it’s cross country, track and field, basketball or weight training, most sports require some sort of basic equipment. Keeping up with young growing bodies season after season, sport after sport can put a financial strain on a budget, potentially preventing a young athlete from participating in any sport.

We feel that no child should be without the means to participate in and pursue their athletic goals, no matter how small the goal or how big the dream. The ANNA Foundation provides athletes with those means at no cost to the athlete. It’s as simple as that. Where there is a need, there is a way.

The ANNA Foundation will also provide other necessary equipment, coaching, entry fees and travel expenses, all to support the underprivileged youth athlete in pursuing the dream that might have otherwise been unattainable.

Across the nation, The ANNA Foundation matches athletes with shoes, equipment, coaching, athletic fees, and more. It’s time to build up the confidence of our youth and level the playing field for all of our young athletes.
